Hyderabad, Apr 23 (UNI) Polling for the Hyderabad Local Bodies Member of Legislative Council (MLC) election concluded peacefully on Wednesday, with 78.57 per cent voter turnout, according to Election Returning Officer Anurag Jayanti.
The polling, conducted from 0800 to 1600 at two centers set up at the GHMC head office, saw 88 out of 112 voters exercise their franchise. Among them, 66 were corporators and 22 were ex-officio members.
Polling trends throughout the day showed a steady rise in turnout, starting with 37.51 per cent by 1000 hours, rising to 77.68 per cent by noon, and reaching 78.57 per cent by 1400 hours, which remained unchanged till the close of polling at 1600 hours.
Election Observer Surendra Mohan, along with the Returning Officer, visited the polling centers to monitor the proceedings and ensure smooth conduct of the election.
Following the close of polling, the ballot boxes were transported to the reception centre under tight security and placed in a strong room after verification. A strong police presence was maintained throughout the process.
Counting of votes will take place on April 25 at 0800 AM at Panwar Hall, GHMC Head Office.
