Media must use AI for the benefit of mankind: Minister

Vijayawada, Apr 23 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information K Parthasarathy on Wednesday stated that it is the responsibility of media personnel in which way they put the newest technologies to use for the benefit of mankind or to achieve selfish goals.
On the occasion of 38th National PR Day, Public Relations Society of India Amaravati Chapter organised a special PR Day conference here.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister urged media personnel to use the latest technologies such as AI for the benefit of society rather than "blackmailing" people. He also opined that excessive use of social media is not good for any one and it is the time to control the bad effects of the newest technologies.
He explained that all the users of technology must decide what they can consume or not and cautioned that excess use of technology beyond anyone’s consuming capacity would lead to destruction.
Chairman, PRSI Amaravati Chapter Dr G Anita highlighted the reason to select the theme Responsible Use of AI: Role of Public Relations saying that emergence of AI will further complicate the communication systems that were already under heavy impact of social media. “Through this conference we would like to take the responsible usage of technologies such as social media and AI into various stakeholders,” she added.
