IMA's Maha unit urges doctors to be ready for emergency response

Mumbai, May 9 ( UNI) The Indian Medical Association (IMA) unit in Maharashtra has urged doctors in the state to be alert and ready to provide emergency medical services as tensions between India and Pakistan escalate.
"In a moment of national crisis, the strength of our healthcare system depends not only on infrastructure, but also on the readiness and courage of doctors", said IMA's Maharashtra branch president Dr Santosh Kadam in a statement.
The advisory, issued on Friday details the plan to ensure a rapid and coordinated medical response in the event of a large-scale emergency.
The IMA has asked all clinics, nursing homes and hospitals affiliated to them to stock up essential medicines, dressings and life-saving drugs.
It has also called for the establishment of an emergency management task force in each local branch comprising senior doctors, surgeons, anaesthetists, emergency care specialists and volunteers.
