Integrated manufacturing & logistics clusters to create job opportunities in UP

Lucknow, July 3 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh is rapidly recasting itself from a vast consumer market into India’s next industrial- logistics powerhouse.

As part of this mission, the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) is developing 27 Integrated Manufacturing and Logistics Clusters (IMLCs), an UPEIDA‑led network that links expressways, factories and supply chains into a single growth engine, across 26 districts of the state. The initiative is poised to propel the state to the forefront of India’s industrial future, officials here on Thursday said.

Driven by the UP government’s transparent industrial policies and emphasis on ease of doing business, these clusters are attracting growing interest from domestic and global investors. UPEIDA is offering prime plots within the IMLCs, specifically for sectors such as defence manufacturing, heavy industries, and logistics.

Expressions of Interest and land allotments are being invited to facilitate the establishment of industrial parks based on the PPP model.
A defining strength of the IMLCs is their strategic connectivity. Every cluster is situated near major expressways and within one kilometre of the DFC, ensuring seamless multimodal connectivity by road, rail, and air, not just within the state but across India. These locations offer direct access to Eastern and Western DFCs, designed to facilitate seamless multi-city logistical integration.
Each IMLC is being equipped with modern, future-ready infrastructure, including wide internal roads, uninterrupted 24/7 power supply, integrated water and drainage systems, internal lighting, green zones for environmental balance, and centralised online systems for land allotment and investor services.
This initiative ensures balanced industrial development across all regions of the state, including those districts that have historically lagged. By decentralising industrial growth, the IMLCs will generate local employment opportunities for hundreds of thousands of people, strengthen regional competitiveness, and bring skilled manpower closer to urban industrial centres. Additionally, these clusters are set to enhance the efficiency of the state's logistics and supply chain networks.

Alongside initiatives such as the Defence Industrial Corridor, Mega Food Parks, Medical Devices Park, and Textile Hub, the IMLC project is reshaping the state’s economic foundation and rapidly expanding its industrial footprint.
