Iran begins work on Fordo nuclear plant post US-airstrikes, reveals satellite imagery

Tehran, July 2 (UNI) Iran has begun work on its Fordo nuclear plant, days after last month’s US airstrikes, with satellite images from Maxar Technologies showing a new access road and the deployment of construction equipment at the uranium enrichment facility, reports Iran International.

As per the captured images captured images, Tehran has been working around the clock to repair the damage incurred on one of its key nuclear facilities, with satellite images showcasing a newly built road leading up the mountain to the Fordo site, along with several vehicles, including an excavator and a mobile crane.

First reported by the Wall Street Journal, the publication cited an analysis by the Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) that said the excavator was likely preparing a staging area to lower cameras or personnel into bomb impact points to inspect the damage to the underground facility.

On Monday, ISIS president David Albright said that Maxar’s imagery shows Iran is preparing for downhole inspections at two impact sites, starting with the one where a crane is already positioned.

Albright said that based on the captured images, Iran is making preparations for downhole damage assessment and possible downhole entry of cameras and/or personnel at one site, and preparing a staging ground at the other via bulldozers.
