J&K Police register FIR in Anantnag against individuals attempting to incite sectarian tensions

Srinagar, Mar 22 (UNI) Days after a person was detained in Srinagar allegedly for attempting to stoke sectarian division on social media, police in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir have registered a case against individuals attempting to give a sectarian colour to a recent murder.



The FIR was registered at Police Station Anantnag. “Anantnag Police has registered an FIR (No. 57/2025) at Police Station Anantnag against individuals attempting to give a sectarian colour to a recent tragic incident in Kokernag,” police said.



The police are committed to ensuring a fair, impartial, and fact-based investigation.

“Any attempt to spread baseless narratives and incite communal disharmony will not be tolerated, and strict legal action will be taken against those disturbing public peace,” police said.



Police have urged the public to avoid misleading information.

“Law enforcement agencies are diligently working to ensure justice while maintaining communal harmony in the region, “police said.



Police on March 19 cracked an abduction and murder case of Anantnag girl and arrested the accused person, a resident of Srinagar. A day later a person was detained in Srinagar allegedly for attempting to stoke sectarian division on social media.
