Patna, Apr 5 (UNI) Top JD(U) Muslim leaders on Saturday expressed their solidarity with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, saying the interests of the entire Muslim community would remain intact under his leadership as the Waqf Board Amendment Bill was passed incorporating suggestions of their party.
State spokesperson of JD(U) Anzum Ara, in the presence of top Muslim leaders of the party, told media persons here that all of them were strongly united under the leadership of Chief Minister Kumar.
His contribution to the welfare and development of the Muslim community was immense during the last twenty years, she added.
" Waqf Board Amendment Bill was passed only after five suggestions made by JD(U) were incorporated in Bill, " JD(U) leader said, adding the most important suggestion was that the new Waqf Board Act would be enforced with prospective effect and not retrospective effect.
All religious structures including mosques, Idgah, and Graveyards would remain as it is, even if the property was not registered under Waqf Board, she pointed out.
She said that land was a state subject and it would not change even after the new Waqf Board Act would come be enforced. Time to be given for registration of properties under the new Waqf Board Act would be more than six months, while earlier provision was for only six months in the bill, she pointed out.
" As you all know that land is a state subject and Chief Minister Kumar would not allow compromising the interests of Muslims even under the new Waqf Board Amendment Act, " JD(U) leader told media persons. Nitish Kumar government had given Rs 110 crores for carrying out schemes for the welfare and development of the Muslim community, she pointed out.
