JIS varsity, AIU advocate affordable education, skill enhancement for betterment of students

Kolkata, Mar 17 (UNI) The Association of Indian Universities (AIU) is poised to convene its prestigious East Zone Vice Chancellors' Conference 2024-25 at JIS University, Kolkata on March 18 and 19, with a thematic emphasis on "Equity, Diversity and Sustainability".
This significant academic gathering will be inaugurated by Governor of West Bengal Dr C V Ananda Bose on March 18 at 10 am.
AIU's Vice Chancellors' Conference, organised annually at zonal and national levels, provide a vital platform for academic leaders to collectively address key issues in Indian higher education.
The conference will focus on the deliberations on the innovative assessment and evaluation practices, through insightful keynote speeches and expert panel discussions including utilization of modern approaches such as project-based learning, experiential assessments, and the use of digital technologies to foster critical thinking, creativity, and real-world problem-solving skills among students.
The recommendations will be discussed at the National Conference of Vice Chancellors, and a University Action Plan will be prepared based on these recommendations and it will be sent to Governors of all the states, Ministries and apex bodies of higher education that is, UGC, AICTE, NAAC, ICAR, etc., for taking necessary actions.
The two-day event will feature three key technical sessions: Incorporating IKS in curriculum and PedagogyCatering to Equity and Diversity on Campuses Creating Green & Sustainable Campuses
In a curtain-raiser press interaction, Sardar Taranjit Singh remarked, “The East Zone Vice Chancellors Meet is a unique platform where academic leaders come together to shape the future of higher education. By focusing on equity, diversity, and sustainability, we are ensuring that the educational landscape evolves to meet the needs of every student, regardless of background, while encouraging responsible growth and development. The two-day long event will feature a series of important sessions aimed at exploring the role of educational institutions in promoting diversity and inclusiveness while simultaneously addressing the urgent need for sustainability in curriculum, campus development, and societal outreach".
Dr Neeraj Saxena added, "The event will be later joined by Partha Pratim Chakrabarti, former director of IIT Kharagpur."
The press conference was headed by prominent leaders in the education sector, including Dr. Pankaj Mittal, Secretary General of AIU; Sardar Taranjit Singh, MD of JIS Group; Neeraj Saxena, Pro-Chancellor of JIS Group; and Bidyut Majumder, Deputy Director of Business Development, JIS Group.
