Joint review meeting held in south Kashmir to strengthen highway security

Srinagar, Apr 7 (UNI) In a bid to strengthen security along the vital NH-44 highway corridor, a joint security review meeting was held on Monday in south Kashmir’s Awantipora sub- district.

The meeting was co-chaired by Senior Superintendent of Police Awantipora Sajad Shah and two Commanding Officers of CRPF battalions and Army’s 50 Rashtriya Rifles.

A police spokesman said the primary objective of the meeting was to assess and enhance the existing security measures in the region especially on NH-44, with a focus on improving coordination between the J&K Police, CRPF and Army. The NH-44 remains a strategic route for both civilian and military movement.

“The goal was to strengthen the collaborative efforts of forces in maintaining law and order, as well as ensuring peace in the Police District Awantipora. A comprehensive review of the current security situation was conducted, focusing on joint operations and strategies to improve operational coordination between the forces, ensuring a swift and effective response to emerging security challenges,” the spokesman said.

SSP Awantipora appreciated the efforts of Police and other security agencies for maintaining stability in the Police district and emphasised upon them to maintain synergy and better coordination with one another at ground level to maintain the peaceful environment and security.
He urged the officers to strengthen the general security grid of their respective areas of responsibility for ensuring peace and stability besides taking stringent action against those involved in anti-national activities.
He also emphasised upon all concerned officers to stay alert and maintain effective coordination among forces during the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.
