Kashmir is not a 1,000 years' conflict: Manish Tewari to Trump

Chandigarh, May 11 (UNI) Congress MP from Chandigarh Manish Tewari on Sunday said that someone in the

US establishment needs to seriously educate President Donald Trump that Kashmir is not a biblical 1,000 year old conflict.

Trump, on Sunday, had posted a tweet in which the US President, inter alia, said that he would work with both (India and Pakistan) to see if, after a "thousand years", a solution could be arrived at concerning Kashmir.

Tewari, sharing the screenshot of Trump's tweet, wrote on X that the Kashmir conflict started on 22nd October 1947 - 78 years ago when Pakistan invaded the Independent State of Jammu & Kashmir that subsequently was ceded to India in’ FULL’ by Maharaja Hari Singh on 26th October 1947 that includes areas illegally occupied by Pakistan till now.

"How difficult is it to grasp this simple fact ?" he asked.

Notably, President Trump, in his recent press statements regarding the India-Pakistan tensions has always been referring to the two nations fighting with each other for "thousands of years" over Kashmir, in a figure of speech.
