Kavitha accuses Cong govt of mortgaging Telangana lands, demands transparency

Hyderabad, May 12 (UNI) BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Monday launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led Telangana government, alleging that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is planning to mortgage 1.75 lakh acres of land under the Telangana Government Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (TGIIC) to raise massive loans.

Addressing the media at Telangana Bhavan, Kavitha claimed that the government had secretly issued a GO to convert TGIIC from a private limited company into a public limited entity to facilitate borrowing of thousands of crores by floating Telangana lands on the stock exchange. She questioned the secrecy behind this move and warned of the potential risks if the stock exchange suffered losses.

Kavitha, who is also the daughter of former Chief Minister K Chandrasekha Rao (KCR) further alleged that over Rs 1.8 lakh crore had been borrowed in the past 16 months, yet no major scheme had been implemented, nor was the money utilised for public development.

She stated that only Rs 80,000 crore was used to repay previous debts and interest, and questioned where the remaining Rs 1 lakh crore had gone. She demanded that the government release a white paper on the loans.

She also criticised the mortgaging of 400 acres in Kancha Gachibowli to raise Rs 10,000 crore and accused the government of environmental neglect. Kavitha demanded immediate withdrawal of the TGIIC status change and transparency in all financial decisions.
