Kolhapur sessions judge sentences man to life imprisonment for flogging wife, daughter to death

Kolhapur, May 9 (UNI) District session judge (3) SS Tambe today sentenced to life imprisonment a man who in 2017 had brutally beaten his wife and daughter leading to their deaths, in Nave Paragon in Hatkanangale tehsil of this district.
The judge also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the accused.
According to public prosecutor Vivek Shukla, accused Ajit Sitaram Shinde (43), resident of Nave Paragon, an addicted man, had severely beaten to his wife Deepali (25), daughter Vaibhavi (10) and son Prem (8). The three were admitted to hospital where Deepali and Vaibhavi died during the medical treatment.
A total 16 witnesses were examined in the court. Judge Tambe accepted their statements and the arguments of lawyers and sentenced Ajit to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 5,000.

Maha: HC grants bail to Bangladeshi woman on violation of fundamental rights in case of illegal stay in India

Mumbai, May 11 (UNI) The Bombay High Court has granted bail to a female Bangladeshi national, accused of illegally entering India, citing violation of her fundamental rights due to her delayed production before a magistrate, a lawyer said on Sunday
In an order passed on May seven, Justice Milind Jadhav noted that petitioner was not produced within the mandatory 24-hour period after her arrest, which amounts to a breach of her constitutional rights under Articles 21 and 22.
