Land mafias grabbing Bhoodan land in Bihar: CPI

Patna, May 13 (UNI) CPI on Tuesday alleged that land mafias were grabbing Bhoodan lands in Bihar, which were allotted to landless people by the state government, and such injustice being meted out to them must be stopped forthwith.
State Secretary of CPI Ram Naresh Pandey said here that during the Bhoodan movement launched by Acharya Vinoba Bhave, a total of 6,48,593 acres of land were donated by land owners to be distributed among landless people. It was a great movement to ensure social and economic justice to the weaker sections of society and the poor who lagged behind on the path of development and prosperity, he added.
" Very purpose of Bhoodan movement stands defeated in Bihar as Bhoodan lands allotted to landless people are being grabbed by land mafia's ", CPI leader said, adding that it was most unfortunate and Nitish Kumar government should take stern action in stopping such practices being engineered by land mafias in connivance with officials concerned.
" Morale of land mafias' had increased immensely as BJP leaders were being made Land Reforms Minister one after the other successively in NDA government ", Pandey said.
Land papers of the people who were allotted Bhoodan land should be properly processed and mutation should be done so that land mafias could not take undue advantage and succeed in their sinister design, he demanded.
