Law should be implemented across country to ban cow slaughter: Saints Committee

Nashik, Apr 6 (UNI) A law should be made to ban political leaders like MNS chief Raj Thackeray and NCP's (Sharad Pawar) Jitendra Awhad, who make statements about religion without authority, and a law should be implemented across the country to ban cow slaughter, among other demands, which were resolved in a meeting of the All India Saints Committee here.
A meeting of the Saints Committee was held at the Janardan Swami Math in Panchavati on Saturday in the presence of Digambar Akhara's Ramkishore Das Shastri Maharaj, General Secretary Swami Bharatanand Saraswati, Sant Samiti's regional chief Mahant Aniket Shastri Deshpande, Mahant Sudhir Das Pujari, Akhara Parishad's Bhakti Charan Das Maharaj and others.
No one has the right to speak about religion. Statements by political leaders create confusion. Feelings are hurt. Citing Jitendra Awhad and Raj Thackeray, Mahant Aniket Shastri said that a resolution was made in the meeting to make a law to ban those who make such statements.
It is necessary to purify the Godavari and its tributaries before the upcoming Kumbh Mela. In the planning of the Kumbh Mela, the issue of giving a place to Dharmacharyas and pilgrim priests in the authority was raised.
Since 80 per cent of the citizens of the country want a ban on cow slaughter, a resolution was passed demanding that the central government implement the Cow Slaughter Ban Act in the country.
Mahant Sudhir Das demanded that Nashik also be given the status of a Class A pilgrimage site like Trimbakeshwar.
