Maha govt asks pre-primary education institutes to register online in a week

Mumbai Apr 25 (UNI) The Maharashtra government has asked all private pre-primary educational institutes, including pre-schools, nursery, junior and senior KG to register on the official government portal within a week's time, officials said on Friday.
The initiative comes as part of the implementation of the newly formulated State Curriculum Framework Foundation Stage (SCF-FS), aligning with the National Education Policy(NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework-Foundation Stage (NCF-FS).
Under the NEP 2020’s revised 5+3+3+4 education structure, the first five years – comprising three years of pre-primary education along with Classes 1 and 2 – are collectively defined as the ‘foundational stage’.
The new state curriculum framework emphasises the government’s objective to provide free, safe, high-quality, and developmentally appropriate early childhood care and education (ECCE) to all children aged 3 to 8 years.
Meanwhile, according to the sources in the state education department, a new body titled ‘Maharashtra State Academic and Research Council’ (MahaSARC) will be set up to implement novel academic flexibility for higher education envisioned under the NEP.
In addition to creating a common calendar for all universities across the state, it will be responsible for creating an effective mechanism of credit transfer and academic equivalence among various programs offered by several universities to ensure smooth exchange as well as entry and exit options.
The state higher and technical education department made the announcement via a government resolution (GR). As per the GR, the MahaSARC will function as the apex authority for dealing with academic matters related to higher education and will serve as an advisory body for the Maharashtra State Commission for Higher Education and Development (MAHED), which is chaired by the Chief Minister.
