Maha: High alert on Konkan coast; Ratnagiri

Ratnagiri, May 10 (UNI) In the backdrop of the war-like tensions between India and Pakistan, the district police administration has issued an alert.
An order to this effect has been issued in the entire district and patrols have been intensified on the seacoast of the district, informed District Police superintendent Dhananjay Kulkarni here on Saturday.
He said that alert has been issued in the entire Konkan due to the war-like situation that has arisen in the two neighbouring countries between India and Pakistan.
Police in the district are on alert due to fear of infiltration from the Konkan coast. The leaves of all police personnel in the district have been cancelled and they have been instructed to report to work, he said.
Kulkarni further said that the entire police department is on alert mode and security arrangements have been tightened and police patrols have been increased at important places in the city.
Separate teams have been deployed for patrolling especially in the coastal areas and the members assigned for maritime security have also been ordered to be more vigilant.
He made an appeal to inform police immediately if any suspicious boat or person is found in the city or the district.
