Maha Minister Abitkar says cashless treatment up to Rs 1 lakh will be provided for accident victims

Mumbai, Apr 18 (UNI) Maharashtra Public Health and Family Welfare Minister Prakash Abitkar on Friday directed that the Public Health Department should take action to provide cashless treatment up to Rs 1 lakh for accident victims from approved and other emergency hospitals.
He also said that hospitals, society officials and implementing agencies should be strictly vigilant to ensure that patients get timely, quality and cashless treatment. He warned of strict action against those who do wrong.
He was speaking during a review meeting of the functioning of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana at the headquarters of the State Health Guarantee Society in Worli, Mumbai.
On this occasion, Chairman of Ayushman Bharat Mission Maharashtra Committee, Omprakash Shete, Chief Executive Officer of the State Health Guarantee Society Annasaheb Chavan, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Dayanand Jagtap, Joint Secretary of the Public Health Department Ashok Atram, Assistant Director Ravindra Shete were present.
During the meeting, Minister Abitkar took many important decisions for the effective implementation of this scheme. It was decided to increase the number of hospitals adopted under the scheme from 1,792 to 4,180.
He ordered that the selection process be implemented in a transparent manner through a committee headed by the District Collector.
A study committee has been formed to increase the number of treatments under this scheme, improve the rates, include expensive treatments like organ transplants, as well as include primary health care in the scheme.
Abitkar ordered that the report be submitted within a month. It was decided to develop a separate mobile app for the public to provide information about the hospitals in the scheme, bed availability and register complaints.
Minister Abitkar also said that every approved hospital should organise one health camp every month and provide cashless treatment to at least five patients, and public representatives should be involved in such camps and publicise it in advance.
For implementation of the scheme, committees should be formed at the district level under the chairmanship of the Guardian Minister and their meetings should be organised immediately, he added.
