Maha: Police detain teenager who damages BEST bus and other vehicle

Mumbai, Apr 20 (UNI) A 16-year-old boy damaged a BEST bus, several autorickshaws, and a water tanker with a sword in the Bhandup West area of the city suburb and was later detained by the police on a complaint filed by a bus driver official here on Sunday .
Police further said that the minor is known to be a history-sheeter, and three crimes, including one for attempted murder, were reportedly registered against him last year at the same police station.
At the time of the attack, passengers were present inside the bus. Reportedly, the boy committed the act in a fit of rage after being scolded by his uncle.
Based on a complaint filed by the bus driver, the Bhandup police registered a case against the minor under sections 109(1) (Attempt to murder), 324(5) (Mischief causing loss of one lakh rupees or more), 126(2) (Wrongful restraint), 351(3) (Criminal intimidation), and 352 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act and the Indian Arms Act. The incident took place on April 19.
According to the police, the incident occurred between 3:10 PM and 3:25 PM at Miniland Society, Tank Road, Bhandup West. The 16-year-old was playing nearby when his uncle arrived and scolded him over an undisclosed matter.
In a fit of rage, the boy went away, returned with a sword, and reached the road where a BEST bus was passing.
He threatened the bus driver, prevented him from driving, and hit the vehicle’s windows with the sword while verbally abusing him. The damage to the bus was estimated at Rs 70,000. The boy then proceeded to damage several autorickshaws parked nearby and a water tanker.
The bus driver, Dhyaneshwar Rathor, filed a complaint with the Bhandup police, after which the case was registered.
