Maha: SEC dismisses suspended PSI's allegations

Beed, Apr 20 (UNI) The State Election Commission (SEC), Maharashtra said on Sunday that allegations made by controversial and suspended police sub-inspector Ranjit Kasle in connection with the Parli assembly elections are 'false' and 'misleading the public'.
Kasle was not given duty in the Parli constituency during the entire election process, including the strong room security, EVM (electronic voting machine) security or the counting process, the Election office said.
The SEC has officially announced a self-evident disclosure that he was assigned to the Beed Cyber Department.
An official clarification issued by the SEC on Sunday stated that PSI Kasle had made a false allegation on social media by circulating a video that he was given Rs 10 lakh to tamper with the EVM in the strong room during the election process.

Taking a serious note of this, the SEC had directed the Beed district administration to submit a report.
When the Beed district collector sought a report on Kasle through the superintendent of police, the report clearly stated that Kasle was posted at the Beed Cyber Department at that time and he was not posted on duty anywhere during the election process in the Parli assembly constituency, stated the SEC release.
Representatives of all party candidates and election observers were also present during the sealing of the EVMs at end of the assembly elections.
The place where the EVMs were kept was under 24-hour CCTV camera surveillance and a three-tier security was deployed at the place, added the release.
