Mock drill to be conducted in all districts of UP

Lucknow, May 6 (UNI) A mock drill will be conducted in all the districts of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday to test their preparedness in emergency situations, a top police officer said here on Tuesday.
Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar said that as per the directives of the central government, mock drill was to be conducted in 19 districts but we have asked all the district administrations to conduct the drill in view of security. "All the concerned departments including the police department, fire department have been alerted in the mock drill," he said.
He said that the districts have been divided into three categories in terms of sensitivity. "One district is in category A while two districts are in C category and the rest are in B category. Directives have been issued to conduct this mock drill in collaboration with the civil administration, police administration, fire service and disaster response force in all the districts," he said.
Meanwhile, many district administrations have finalised the preparations for the mock drill today. The damaged fire fighting equipment and sirens have been checked and repaired.

Kashmiri journalist detained for 'instigating secessionist sentiment' on social media

Srinagar, May 6 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Counter Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) wing on Tuesday detained a Kashmiri journalist, accusing him of “posting extremist content on social media.”

Police said Hilal Mir, a resident of Bemina Srinagar was detained as he "used to disseminate extremist or distorted content with an intention to disturb peace and promote disaffection and secessionist ideology and present India in a bad shape.”

Police statement didn’t mention Mir as a journalist.
Mir, an independent reporter, has previously worked with media organsations including Hindustan Times and Srinagar based newspapers. He also freelanced for Anadolu Agency, TRT and Huffpost.
