New Delhi, June 18 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi politely declined an invitation by US President Donald Trump to visit the US while on his way back home after completing his three-nation tour.
The Prime Minister who arrived in Croatia this evening on the final leg of his three-nation tour, including Canada where he attended the G-7 Summit, was told by President Trump during their 35-minute telephone talk to stop over in the US on his way back from Canada.
However, Prime Minister Modi expressed his inability to come because of some prior engagements, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said.
Both leaders agreed to make efforts to meet in the near future.
Prime Minister Modi in turn extended an invitation to President Trump to visit India for the next QUAD Summit.
President Trump accepted the invitation and said he is looking forward to visiting India, FS Misri said.
