New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved extension in service of India's Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) Dr V Anantha Nageswaran for two years till March 2027.
Ministry of Finance in its office order said that the tenure of the CEA has been extended on contract basis up to March 31, 2027 or until further order whichever is earlier.
"This issues with approval of the competent authority," said the office order dated February 20, 2025.
The government had appointed Dr Nageswaran as the CEA in January 2022.
Prior to this, Dr. Nageswaran had worked as a writer, author, teacher and consultant. He taught at several business schools and institutes of management in India and in Singapore and published extensively.
He was the Dean of the IFMR Graduate School of Business and a Visiting Professor of Economics at Krea University. He had also been a part-time member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India from 2019 to 2021.
