Steps taken for women empowerment in Bihar: Nitish

Patna, Mar 7 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday said that a number of steps had been taken by his government for women's empowerment in the state.
Kumar, while congratulating women on the eve of International Women's Day, said that his government was totally committed to improving the condition of women in Bihar. A number of steps were taken in the state for women's empowerment since his government was voted to power in 2005, he added.
"Bihar was the first state to make 50 percent reservation for women in Panchayati Raj institutions and local bodies, "the Chief Minister said, adding that 35 per cent reservation was also given to women in police recruitment and other government services.
