Bhubaneswar, Apr 21 (UNI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, accompanied by ten Ministers from his council, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, and Secretary-level officers of various departments, attended a public grievance redressal program in Sambalpur on Monday.
According to sources from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), approximately 10,000 complaints were received during the previous nine rounds of the program, of which 88 percent have been resolved.
Today marked the 10th round of the Chief Minister's public hearing program, where about 1,000 complaints were registered online, while around 400 were received offline.
As part of the program, 18 individuals suffering from incurable and terminal illnesses were provided immediate medical assistance totaling Rs. 19.5 lakh from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund through the Single Window System. To expedite this process, a medical team was stationed in the grievance room.
This is the first time the Chief Minister and his council of ministers have addressed public grievances outside the state capital.
Official sources said similar grievance hearings will be organized in other parts of the state in the coming days.
The Sambalpur Municipal Corporation office complex was bustling, as the entire state administration temporarily relocated to Sambalpur to listen to and address people’s issues.
On Sunday evening, Chief Minister and members of the state cabinet arrived in Sambalpur and visited Maa Samaleswari Temple, offering prayers for the welfare of the people of Odisha.
On the occasion, Majhi remarked that the public hearing in Sambalpur is an auspicious and positive step—for the government, the people, the state, and democracy as a whole.
He stated that the Prime Minister's guidance inspired the government to be closer to the people. “Our goal is to pursue the state’s major development objectives while also addressing the concerns of the poor and helpless,” he said.
Criticising the previous BJD government for its indifference towards public grievances, Majhi added, “We have resolved to conduct public hearings in various regions of the state. Today it was in Sambalpur, and soon it will be held elsewhere.”
The Chief Minister also emphasized that through such regional public hearings, officials will be empowered to address local issues at their level. “They will become more conscious of the basic problems people face,” he said.
Majhi further stated that officials have received clear instructions to resolve all grievances as quickly as possible.
