Bihar: Criminals loot jewellery worth Rs 35 lakhs, injure shop owner

Samastipur, May 18 (UNI) In a broad-day light incident, armed criminals looted jewellery worth Rs 35 lakhs from a jewellery store and also caused injuries to the shop owner when he resisted their loot bid, in Kalyanpur police station area of Samastipur district in Bihar on Sunday.
Police said that two to three armed criminals stormed into a jewellery shop and started looting ornaments, but its owner Phulbabu Shah strongly resisted their loot bid. The criminals lost their cool on being resisted by Shah and opened fire causing injuries to him before escaping with ornaments worth Rs 35 lakhs, police added.
"The criminals managed to escape with the looted ornaments from the spot," police said, adding that raids were being carried out to nab them and recover the looted jewellery.
The injured businessman has been admitted to a local hospital, police informed.
