Bhubaneswar, May 19 (UNI) Odisha’s first National Investigation Agency (NIA) police station will be st up in the state capital, according to a notification issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Satyabrata Sahu.
The notification stated that the newly designated NIA police station will be set up at the Regional Telecom Training Centre near Vani Vihar.
The NIA police station will have jurisdiction over the entire state of Odisha and will investigate scheduled offences under the NIA Act, 2008.
The Home Department's notification further said that, in exercise of the powers conferred under Section 2(1)(u) of the BNS 2023, the state government has approved the establishment of the NIA police station—the first in the state to investigate scheduled offences under the NIA Act.
An officer of the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) will be in charge of the NIA police station, the notification added.
