In letter to Amit Shah, Tejaswi demands 'Battle Casualty' status for martyred paramilitary forces

Patna, May 20 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly Tejaswi Prasad Yadav demanded that Union Home Minister Amit Shah declare martyr status to the paramilitary forces who die in battle, in order to maintain parity with the army, with regard to government jobs, pension and other facilities to their families.
In a letter to the Union Home Minister, which he shared on his social media account X on Tuesday, he demanded the granting of martyr status to the brave soldiers of the paramilitary forces who sacrifice their all for the protection of the motherland and the unity and integrity of the country.
Drawing Shah's attention towards the issues which he described as most important and sensitive, Yadav said that in addition to the the military (Army, Navy, Air Force) the paramilitary forces (CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, SSB, Assam Rifles) make the supreme sacrifice for the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country.
He said it was unfortunate that there was clear discrimination in the honor, compensation, facilities and other benefits given to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the motherland.
Yadav said that the valiant Indian Army martyrs get compensation, respect and financial assistance and social security from the state and central government, whereas the martyrs of paramilitary forces and their families do not get the expected respect, assistance and future security, to which they too are equally entitled.
Demanding an end to this discrimination to maintain and raise the morale of paramilitary forces, he said such demands of the paramilitary forces were pending since long.
Supporting the demands of the paramilitary forces, Yadav said they should also be declared "Battle Casualty" so that they and their families can get equal respect, benefits and compensation.
He also asked for parity between the families of martyrs of Army and paramilitary forces in government jobs, pension and other government facilities.
The RJD leaders said that the names of paramilitary martyrs should also be recorded in the National War Memorial.
He asked the Centre for automatic implementation of the Liberalised Pension Scheme for the families of martyrs of paramilitary forces..
He suggested that parity be brought in compensation, and the Ex-Gratia given by the Centre and the state.
Yadav further said that Military and paramilitary personnel were given retirement after being seriously injured or disabled in Naxalism, anti-terrorism operations, war or war-like situations.
If they die later due to war-related injuries, they should also be given the status of a martyr and all the benefits be given to them, he demanded.
He urged Shah to take cognisance of the demands and suggestions and to provide proper respect and rights to the soldiers and families of these forces by eliminating discrimination in case of death or martyrdom during internal security, Naxalism, anti-terrorist operations, war and war like situations.

He asked for One Rank One Pension for the soldiers and paramilitary forces working under similar conditions.
