CPI(M), SUCI welcome India-Pak ceasefire

Kolkata, May 10 (UNI) The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Saturday welcomed the India-Pakistan ceasefire, saying the people of both the countries deserve progress and prosperity.
Another Left organisation, SUCI, also welcomed the cessation of conflict between the two neighbouring
nations.
"The CPI(M) positively notes the announcement of a ceasefire that would come into effect immediately,
between India and Pakistan." the Politbureau said in a statement.
"We earnestly hope that the two countries build on this. Pakistan has to ensure an end to terrorist
activities from within its border.
"Steps should be taken to ensure that there is no further confrontation." the CPIM) said.
SUCI (Communist) general secretary Provas Ghosh in a statement said the news of ceasefire between India and Pakistan has brought relief for the common people of both the countries.
"War caused loss not only of properties but also the lives of the innocent people, including children," he said.
"But those who perpetrated the heinous crime against the innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, still remain untraced and unpunished." Ghosh pointed out.
"We all know that earlier military strikes could not stop the terrorist activities. Is there any guarantee that terrorist activities will be permanently stopped with this military operation?
The ruling vested interests of both the countries want dispute and war tension, but not the common
people, who become the worst sufferers in the war," the SUCI maintained.
"We call upon the common people of both the countries to develop a movement against terrorism and
war machinations," Ghosh concluded.
