63 arrested for violating firecracker ban on New Year’s Eve

Aizawl, Mar 3 (UNI) Mizoram Home Minister K. Sangdanga informed the state assembly on Monday that 63 individuals had been arrested and 55 cases registered across various police stations for violating the ban on firecrackers and pyrotechnic materials during New Year’s Eve celebrations.
Responding to a query from BJP legislator Dr. K. Beichhua, Sangdanga stated that while police have taken action against the offenders, the final decision on penalties will rest with the courts.
The minister also revealed that law enforcement authorities deployed drones to monitor and identify areas where fireworks were set off, ensuring effective enforcement of the ban. The use of drones, he noted, has been instrumental in detecting various crimes and apprehending offenders.
