Bhubaneswar, Mar 14 (UNI) The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police has seized an illegal gun factory and arrested four interstate criminals for manufacturing and possessing illegal firearms.
According to STF sources on Friday, based on intelligence inputs regarding the manufacturing and possession of illegal firearms by some interstate criminals in Bada Dhuleshwar under Baialisi Mouza Police Station in Cuttack district, a team of STF officers, with assistance from Cuttack UPD Police, conducted a raid in the early hours of March 13.
During the raid, the STF team discovered an illegal arms manufacturing unit operating inside the house of Sarat Chandra Yadav in Bada Dhuleshwar village, Cuttack district.
Upon searching the premises, a large quantity of firearm manufacturing materials was recovered and seized, including 29 body parts of 7mm pistols with barrels,80 body parts of 7mm pistols,14 slides of 7mm pistols,36 grips of 7mm pistols,15 barrels of 7mm pistols and 14 iron bars
Additionally, a toolbox containing various tools such as iron files, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, pliers, drills, tape measures, and other equipment was seized.
The STF team also recovered one lead machine with a motor (6 feet long),one milling machine with a motor (5 feet 11 inches tall),one drilling machine with a motor (4 feet 4 inches tall),one grinder machine with a motor and several other instruments
Four interstate criminals identified as Md Azam from Howrah, West Bengal, Md Abid Husain and Md Samser Allam from Bihar and Sarat Chandra Yadav from Bailisi Mouza, Cuttack district were arrested during the raid:
They are being forwarded to the court of the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Cuttack.
The STF has registered a case under Sections 111(2)(b) & 111(3)/61(2) BNS-2023 read with Sections 25(1-AA)/27 of the Arms Act, 1959, and an investigation is underway.
According to STF sources, accused Md Samser Allam was previously involved in a case under Sections 25(A-A)/25(1-AA)/25(1-B)/26(I)(II)/35 of the Arms Act, 1959 in Munger district, Bihar.
Similarly, accused Md Azam from Howrah, West Bengal, had a prior involvement in a murder case.
