Mizoram poised to launch universal health care scheme

Aizawl, Feb 21 (UNI) In a significant move, the Mizoram government is set to introduce a Universal Health Care Scheme (UHCS) with cashless facilities, as announced by Chief Minister Lalduhoma during the state legislative assembly on Friday.
Despite facing hurdles in securing a Rs. 1,000 crore loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the state government is determined to launch the scheme soon, with or without the loan.
The UHCS aims to provide comprehensive healthcare coverage to the people of Mizoram, addressing a long-standing need for accessible and affordable healthcare in the state. The government has been engaging with stakeholders, including the Non-government Hospital Association of Mizoram (NGHAM), to ensure a smooth rollout of the scheme.
