Manipur Governor asks RIMS students to maintain peace

Imphal, May 10 (UNI) Students from the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Imphal (RIMS), met Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at Raj Bhavan, Imphal on Saturday, and submitted a memorandum outlining their issues, including a complaint against the institute Director who they accused of using "unparliamentary words" on students and threatening them.
The Governor gave the delegation a patient hearing and acknowledged the issues raised.
He assured the students that their safety, academic interests, and welfare remain a priority and that their concerns would be reviewed thoroughly in consultation with the relevant authorities.
The Governor appealed to the students to remain focused on their studies and maintain peace on campus. Governor Bhalla also assured that appropriate steps would be taken following due process.
The students informed that the Director used "unparliamentary words" on the students and threatened the students. Fine was imposed on the students and they were asked to vacate the hostels for going to a picnic without approval from the authority.
