Bhubaneswar, May 12 (UNI) Justice Dixit Krishna Shripada was sworn in as a Judge of the Orissa High Court on Monday.
Orissa High Court Chief Justice Harish Tandon administered the oath of office to Justice Shripada at a simple ceremony held within the High Court premises in Cuttack.
Justice Shripada was previously serving as a Judge of the Karnataka High Court before being transferred to the Orissa High Court.
With his swearing-in, the strength of judges in the Orissa High Court has increased to 19.
Justice Shripada enrolled as an advocate in July 1989. He practised in the High Courts of Karnataka and Madras, specializing in writ law, election law, and service law.
He was appointed as the senior standing counsel for the Election Commission of India and also served as additional Central government standing counsel from 1999 onward.
Justice Shripada has represented several institutions, including the University Grants Commission, the Competition Commission of India, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India, Karnataka Veterinary Sciences University, the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, and the National Institute of Unani Medicine.
He was appointed amicus curiae in several matters before the Karnataka High Court.
In 2014, he was appointed assistant solicitor general of India, representing the Central government in significant cases until his elevation to the bench as a judge of the Karnataka High Court on February 14, 2018.
