Seventeen Manipur civil society groups urge Guv to restore popular govt

Imphal, Feb 20 (UNI) Seventeen civil society groups of Manipur have asked governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to expedite the restoration of a popular government by immediately swearing in a new Chief Minister.
The organisations in a memorandum submitted on Thursday asked the Governor to engage actively in peace negotiations to ensure the safe return of displaced communities, uphold the territorial integrity of Manipur and advise the President of India against any division of the state.
The Governor was asked to promote communal harmony and social security through structured cultural exchange programmes. UNI NS SSP
