North East Forum calls to unite for genuine peace, Jokai Declaration inked

Imphal, Mar 22 (UNI) The third General Conference of the North East Indigenous People's Forum held in Jokai Bon, Koibartta, Dibrugarh , Assam with Indigenous Forum Assam held on Saturday concluded with a declaration entitled Jokai Declaration calling the people of the Northeast states to unite for genuine peace.
The forum said in a statement that representatives from various civil organizations and delegates from the northeastern states delved into a wide range of issues confronting the region and resolved to recommend the state governments to deliberate on indigenous issues and enact laws to protect their rights and interests.
The conference assured that the NEIPF is committed to the socio-cultural, economic, and political interdependence of the people and the unity of the region. It is also conscious of the imminent multidimensional threats, particularly the continuous influx of immigrants and predatory government and corporate aggressions.

ASF outbreak claims 462 pigs in Mizoram, 62 deaths recorded in a single day

Aizawl, Mar 28 (UNI) The resurgence of African Swine Fever (ASF) continues to take a toll on Mizoram’s pig population, with the state registering 62 pig deaths in a single day on Friday. This has pushed the death toll to 462 since the latest outbreak began, according to officials from the state Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department.
