Manipur Civil Society condemns organization opposing peace initiative

Imphal, Mar 4 (UNI) A call by Manipur Governor AK Bhalla to lay down arms and the appeal by Union Home Minister, Amit Shah to clear roads, and fight against drugs were welcomed by various organizations.
Cultural organization Arambai Tenggol had laid down arms. The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), a civil society of Manipur organization said on Tuesday that it found the statement of the Committee on Tribal Unity (COTU) as provocative. The COTU openly challenged the authority of the Union Home Minister and the Government of India. This brazen declaration is not only unconstitutional but a direct threat to national unity, law and order, and the sovereignty of the Indian state said Laikhuram Jayanta, Convenor, Sub-Committee Information and Public Relation, COCOMI in a statement.
COTU's statement is nothing short of a secessionist manifesto that incites unrest, endorses illegal blockade tactics, and openly defies the democratic and constitutional framework of the country. This rhetoric of defiance and extremism, issued on a public platform, warrants immediate legal and administrative intervention, it said.
