BSF raises “bar of alertness” along India-Bangladesh border

BSF raises “bar of alertness” along India-Bangladesh border

Shillong, May 7 (UNI) In the wake of Operation Sindoor, the Border Security Force (BSF) has raised the “bar of alertness” at the India-Bangladesh border in Meghalaya sector.

“We have raised the bar of our alertness at the borders. Currently I am at the border reviewing the security arrangement. We have complete night dominance at this difficult terrain,” Inspector General of BSF, Meghalaya Frontier, O P Upadhyay told UNI.

Moreover, he said that troops have been reinforced at the border to strengthen border security … most of the officers are stationed at their respective locations and are reviewing the security arrangements at the border.

“It’s a normal standing protocol when such situations (hostilities between India and Pakistan) happen. We have intensified our patrolling, and our troops are on high alert along the border,” Upadhyay said.

Noting that the current situation at the international border is “normal”, the BSF official said, “We are not taking anything for granted. The security arrangement is watertight.”

Meghalaya shares a 443-km-long border with Bangladesh, of which 49.216 km is unfenced and has terrain difficult to patrol.

Interestingly, the Yunus-led government in Bangladesh has not reacted to India’s precision missile strikes on nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Security analysts said Bangladesh’s ‘silence’ appears to be a deliberate strategy.
