Bengal : Political parties across spectrum congratulated Indian Army after Op Sindoor

Kolkata, May 7 (UNI) The Trinamool Congress and the Bengal BJP were on the same page congratulating the Indian Armed forces after they destroyed nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in the early hours of Wednesday, in retaliation for the deadly terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, on April 22.

Hours after ‘Operation Sindoor’- as the strike is named, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee posted on social media, writing, “Jai Hind! Jai India!”

While her message did not explicitly endorse the BJP-led central government, it was widely interpreted as support for the Indian Armed Forces' early Wednesday operation targeting terror camps across the Line of Control (LoC).

The post aligned with Banerjee’s earlier stance that the Trinamool Congress would back the Centre in matters concerning terrorism and national security.

Shortly after the Chief Minister’s post, Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh released a video statement openly supporting the Centre’s response to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism.

“We have consistently maintained that the Trinamool Congress will always stand with the central government on issues of national security and the country’s sovereignty. The Chief Minister has already made this clear. We strongly support the Indian Army. Jai Hind!” Ghosh said.

All India Trinamool Congress general secretary also congratulated the Indian Army. “Thank you adgpi for this powerful image that reaffirms India’s unity in the face of external attempts to divide us. I salute our armed forces for their unmatched bravery and extraordinary valour for striking with precision, restraint and discipline!” Banerjee wrote on his X handle.

“INDIA neutralised terror infrastructure without crossing the line or endangering innocent lives. This is the strength of INDIA- Firm in resolve, yet honourable in action!” he added.

The Bengal BJP state President Sukanta Majumdar showered heaps of praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership. “Thank you, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji! Under your fearless leadership, India doesn’t stay silent — we strike back with force. 9 terror camps in Pakistan and PoK have been wiped out by our brave Armed Forces in a precise and powerful mission,” Majumdar wrote on his X handle.

“This is New India — we enter their homes and destroy terror!” he added.

Leader of the opposition Suvendu Adhikari wrote on his X handle, “Justice is served. Jai Hind!”

Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury wrote on his X handle, “I am proud of the Indian armed forces who have delivered a devastating blow to the terror infrastructures inside Pakistan by precision strikes of our air force. People of India were fuming on the horrific and ghastly killings which took a toll of 26 innocent Indians in Pahalgam.”

“ I do also congratulate the resolve and political decision of our govt. Make no mistake that we all stand by the side of the govt and armed forces for all strict and stringent measures against OUR ENEMY PAKISTAN.”
