Mamata calls for unity and staying behind Indian Armed Forces f

Kolkata, May 7 (UNI) West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday appealed to all to stay united at this hour when the Indian Armed Forces are fighting against the Pahalgam attackers and terrorists responsible for killing innocent people in Jammu and Kashmir.

" We will fight together hand in hand with the Centre and we will stay together and stay away from any division," Banerjee said immediately after having a teleconference meeting with Union Home minister Amit Shah.

Banerjee, who along with other chief ministers of the bordering states held a video conferencing with Union Home minister Amit Shah, however did not divulge anything regarding the joint meeting, stressed not to be panicky unnecessarily but to be alert and vigilant since the state has international borders.

She also announced all the cancellation of the holidays of the government employees.

West Bengal has three internationals, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan .

The chief minister called upon the people and all the political forces to remain together and stay behind the Indian Armed Forces, who are fighting the terrorists, who are responsible for the Pahalgam massacre.

She also urged the people not to heed to any provocation and misinformation nor make any unfounded statement and refrain from partisan propaganda and create division in the society.

Banerjee also appealed to the authorities of private schools to bring summer vacation a bit early from the Day of Rabindra Jayanti on May 9.

" Since the state government has announced summer vacation already, I would appeal to the private schools to declare summer vacation from the Rabindra Jayanti Day on May 9."

Banerjee stressed that the students should not be out and should have holidays at this time.

She said the government has opened a 24X7 helpline and the same to be opened in North Bengal and the numbers to be announced shortly.

Banerjee laso appointed chief secretary Manoj Panth as the Nodal Officer for any communication from the government side..

She also appealed to all with folded hands, especially the commentators in the TVs to refrain from debating about the sensitive issues.

The chief minister, however, assured not to fear fear and be panicky in case of any mock drill regarding preparedness in case of any emergencies.
