BSF cop Vijay left engagement ceremony midway to join duty on border

Patna, May 12 (UNI) BSF cop Vijay Kumar was in the midst of his engagement ceremony at village Bangre in Aurangabad district, when he got a call to join duty immediately, in the wake of the India-Pakistan tensions. Without wasting time, Vijay donned his uniform and rushed back to join duty along the Rajasthan borders.
For Vijay Kumar, a BSF soldier posted on the borders of Rajasthan, it was a long cherished happy moment as his 'Chheka' (engagement), a ritual related to marriage was being solemnised on May 10 at Bangre, a sleepy hamlet of Aurangabad district. But he had to rush back to his duty leaving the ceremony.
The cop suddenly received a call from the Army headquarters when the rituals were midway.
Leaving the rituals he reached the railway station within half an hour and boarded the train for Rajasthan. The rituals were however symbolically performed.
Vijay, who was posted on the border of Rajasthan adjacent to the Pakistan border, had came to his home on April 14 on a one-month leave.
His marriage was finalised after his arrival but the date for the marriage was yet to be fixed. The family members, the villagers and the relatives attending the Chheka ceremony bid an emotional farewell to Vijay, who was clad in Army uniform.
The festive atmosphere and the celebrations turned poignant when Vijay emerged from the room wearing an Army uniform. With tears in their eyes, his parents blessed him.
The cop, before leaving said that though the situation was normal along the borders but the soldiers had to remain on duty. In an emotional tone, Janeshwar Mehta, father of the cop, said it was a matter of pride that his son was serving the nation and was on duty to protect the motherland.
Similarly, Tyagi Yadav (26) an Army cop of Nandan village in Buxar got married to Priya Kumari of Kesath village on May 7. He too got a call to attend duty the very next day of his marriage in view of the tension between India and Pakistan.
Yadav, being posted at a sensitive post in the border area, left for Jammu on May 9. Yadav said that for him the Nation comes first and he would gladly sacrifice his life for the motherland.
"Marriage and family are my own things," he said and expressed his happiness that the country needs him.
His newly-wedded wife, Priya Kumari said she was proud to be the spouse of a soldier and supports the commitment of her husband towards his duty for the nation.
