Nitish announces Rs 50 lakh ex gratia to family of martyred cop Ram Babu Singh

Patna, May 13 (UNI) Expressing deep sorrow over the killing of a BSF cop Ram Babu Singh, in the cross-border shelling by Pakistan during Operation Sindoor, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced an ex gratia of Rs 50 lakh to the family of the martyred cop.

In his condolence message, Kumar said here on Tuesday that he was deeply hurt by the incident and added that the country will always remember his martyrdom.

The Chief Minister prayed to God to give strength to the bereaved family members to bear the pain in this hour of grief.

He said that the nearest dependent of martyr soldier Rambabu Singh will be given an honorarium of Rs. 50 lakhs by the state government. Along with this, his last rites will be performed with police honors by the state government.

BSF soldier Rambabu Singh of Vasilpur village under Gautam Buddh Police station area, Siwan district in Bihar, sacrificed his life in cross-border shelling on the Jammu and Kashmir border by Pakistan during Operation Sindoor.

PIL filed in Cal HC questioning funding of recently consecrated Jagannath Temple at Digha

Kolkotta, May 13 (UNI) A PIL was filed in the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday questioning the alleged funding of the recently consecrated Jagannath Temple at Digha in East Midnapore by the West Bengal Government.
The Public Interest Litigation was filed by Advocate Kaustav Bagchi, a BJP functionary, before the division bench of Justices Soumen Sen and Smita Das De, challenging the funding of the construction of a religious place by the government under the secular system of the Constitution.
