Miss World 2025 contestants to visit Pochampally on May 15

Hyderabad, May 5 (UNI) In a vibrant cultural showcase, contestants from Group 2 of Miss World 2025 are set to visit the globally acclaimed handloom village of Pochampally on May 15.

This exclusive event will cast an international spotlight on the Pochampally Ikat, one of India’s most celebrated textile traditions.

Located in Telangana’s Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, Pochampally is renowned for its intricate Ikat weaving techniques and was recognized by UNESCO as the "Best Tourism Village of the World." The village stands as a living repository of craftsmanship, culture, and heritage.

During the visit, the contestants will witness the traditional tie-and-dye techniques, experience the essence of Ikat weaving, interact with master weavers, and observe the making of the iconic Telia Rumal—a double Ikat textile once favoured by the Nizams of Hyderabad. The village also holds historical significance for its role in the Bhoodan Movement led by Acharya Vinoba Bhave.

This prestigious visit will elevate Telangana’s handloom legacy to a global platform. By showcasing its vibrant weaves, rural craftsmanship, and rich cultural fabric, the event becomes a powerful celebration of India's living heritage.

As excitement builds ahead of the Miss World 2025 grand finale in Hyderabad later this month, the Pochampally visit is expected to be a key highlight, where beauty meets tradition, and the loom tells Telangana’s timeless story to the world, an official statement said on Monday.
