BIMSTEC Summit to call for setting up of Centre of Disaster Management in India after Myanmar quake

Bangkok/New Delhi, Apr 2 (UNI) The upcoming BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, on April 4 will see the leaders, including PM Modi, adopting a joint statement calling for the early establishment in India of a BIMSTEC Centre of Excellence in Disaster Management, in the wake of the massive earthquake in Myanmar.
This was among the issues decided at the 25th Meeting of Senior Officials’ of the BIMSTEC nations held in Bangkok today, ahead of the Summit meeting on April 4 that will see the participation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Secretary (East) P. Kumaran participated in the meeting.
