Nay Pyi Taw/New Delhi, Mar 29 (UNI) An Indian Air Force C-130 plane carrying an NDRF search and rescue team arrived in the Myanmar capital of Nay Pyi Taw. They will proceed to quake-devastated Mandalay tomorrow morning.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team was received by the Indian Ambassador Abhay Thakur and Ambassador Maung Maung Lynn, Ambassador-at-large, in the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of External Affairs said in an update.
India is the first to bring rescue personnel in the capital.
The airport is still not fully functional after the earthquake.
The NDRF team will proceed to Mandalay tomorrow early morning, and the Indian NDRF rescue team will be the first rescue team to reach Mandalay for rescue operations, the MEA said.
India is sending an 80-member NDRF search and rescue team along with four canines and specialised equipment on board two aircraft as part of Operation Brahma to Myanmar.
The first C-130 plane that left India in the afternoon has reached Nay Pyi Taw, while the rest of the NDRF team is scheduled to depart soon.
