PM Modi outlines 21-point action plan for BIMSTEC at Bangkok Summit

Bangkok/New Delhi, Apr 4 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed signing of the BIMSTEC Maritime Transport Agreement, and outlined a 21-point action plan for the sub-regional bloc of seven nations bordering the Bay of Bengal at the Sixth BIMSTEC Summit in Bangkok today.
PM Modi also welcomed adoption of the BIMSTEC Bangkok Vision 2030, and adoption of the Report of BIMSTEC Eminent Persons Group.
The action plan outlined by PM Modi at the Summit in Bangkok, Thailand included:
*The BIMSTEC Energy Centre in Bengaluru has started working
*Faster work on Electric Grid Connection
* BIMSTEC Young Leaders’ Summit will be held this year, and the BIMSTEC Hackathon and Young Professional Visitors programme will be launched
*To hold the BIMSTEC Athletics Meet in India this year
* Hosting the First BIMSTEC Games in 2027
*Establishment of Sustainable Maritime Transport Centre in India. This centre will work to enhance coordination in capacity building, research, innovation and maritime policies.
*BIMSTEC Traditional Music Festival will be held in India this year
The BIMSTEC Member States also adopted the Summit Declaration.
