New Delhi, Feb 25 (UNI) Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth on Tuesday emphasised the crucial role of women peacekeepers in preventing and tackling gender-based violence and providing support and protection to survivors.
Delivering the valedictory address at the conference on ‘Women in Peacekeeping - A Global South Perspective' here, the Minister said, “Their presence and actions demonstrate the importance of gender diversity in creating sustainable peace and security”, a Defence Ministry statement said.
He highlighted that participation of women peacekeepers fosters an inclusive approach to peacekeeping, ensuring that the unique needs of women and children are addressed in conflict-affected areas.
