Shimla, Mar 11 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Assembly on Tuesday passed a supplementary budget of Rs 17,053.78 crore for the financial year 2024-25.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who holds the portfolio of finance, presented the first and final installment of the supplementary budget, which was approved without discussion.
The House also passed the Himachal Pradesh Appropriation Bill, granting the government authority to utilise these funds.
Out of the total amount, ₹15,776.19 crore is allocated for state schemes, while ₹1,277.59 crore is designated for centrally sponsored schemes. The key allocations under state schemes include ₹10,137.07 crore for wage and means advances and overdraft payments, ₹1,033.63 crore for power generation and infrastructure repair, and ₹814.94 crore as subsidies for fare concessions and electric bus purchases for Himachal Road Transport Corporation. Additionally, ₹763.26 crore has been allocated for pensions and retirement benefits, ₹455.91 crore for medical colleges and healthcare schemes, and ₹329.44 crore for water supply and sanitation projects.
Furthermore, ₹303.67 crore is earmarked for disaster relief, ₹173.25 crore for tourism development, ₹150.19 crore for school infrastructure repair, and ₹142.83 crore for grants to rural local bodies.
Other allocations include ₹135.88 crore for road and bridge construction, ₹130.16 crore for women's hostels and welfare schemes, ₹127.77 crore for government buildings, and ₹124.50 crore for railway projects.
Under centrally sponsored schemes, major allocations include ₹296.56 crore for the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, ₹207.71 crore for disaster management, ₹207.23 crore for compensation to Renuka Dam displaced families, ₹90.28 crore for rural housing, and ₹53.39 crore for MGNREGA.
The supplementary budget was passed by voice vote, ensuring funding for key development projects and welfare programs.
