National Statistics Day celebrated with great enthusiasm

Dharamshala, July 1 (UNI) The 19th National Statistics Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the District Statistical Office Kangra (Dharamshala).
This event was organized on June 30 as June 29 was a holiday as per the order of the Himachal Pradesh government.
Pawan Singh, retired Deputy Director, Department of Economics and Statistics, Himachal Pradesh was present as the chief guest at the programme, which was presided over by Anju Bala, Statistical Assistant from the District Planning Office.
On this occasion, all the employees of the office participated and the importance of Statistics Day was highlighted while remembering the contribution of Prof. P.C. Mahalanobis. A seminar based on the 75th anniversary of the National Sample Survey was also organised in the programme.
Chief guest Pawan Singh discussed the quality of data, its utility and the problems faced in collecting it and underlined the role of statistics in social and economic policies. He stressed the need to work with coordination and unity.
The employees present at the programme also shared their views and described this day as a symbol of reliability and awareness of data.
