PDP burns effigy of LOP Sunil Sharma in Pulwama

Srinagar, Mar 7 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) activists on Friday held a protest in South Kashmir's Pulwama district against the Leader of the Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Sunil Sharma for calling the 1931 “martyrs” as “traitors” and burnt his effigy.
Sunil Sharma on Wednesday kicked up a row when he called the 1931 “martyrs” traitors during the Assembly session. The Speaker expunged the “derogatory remarks” by the LOP.
The PDP protestors also condemned Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for not taking any action against the BJP leader for calling the martyrs in 1931 as traitors in the house.
“The 1931 martyrs were the real heroes and we are their living heirs”, a demonstrator told the media in south Kashmir’s Pulwama today.
He said, “we want to convey to the world that the July 13 martyrs sacrificed their lives to pave the way for democracy in Jammu and Kashmir”.
The protestors demand that the July 13 holiday should be restored to pay homage to them.
The protestors shouting slogans later burnt an effigy of the LOP to register their anger.
On Thursday, the PDP workers led by party leader Iltija Mufti also held a protest in Srinagar city against the BJP leader
