BSF, Punjab Police recover arms cache in field on Amritsar border

Chandigarh, Apr 18 (UNI) In a major success against the Pakistan-based cross-border smuggling syndicate, BSF troops and Punjab Police recovered a cache of arms in a field on the Amritsar border on Thursday night.
BSF spokesman said today that acting on specific intelligence, a joint search operation was launched in the border area, which led to the discovery of six pistols and 14 magazines concealed inside a large packet wrapped in yellow adhesive tape.
The packet, with a metal ring attached, was found in a harvested field near village Mahawa of Amritsar district.
He said that the operation, marked by seamless coordination and swift execution, stands as a testament to the alertness and professionalism of the security forces, and significantly dents the agenda of anti-national elements, thereby ensuring safety in the sensitive border regions of Punjab.
